10 YEARS OF FRENCH ABOLITIONIST LAW

Join us to celebrate 10 years of the French abolitionist model in Paris

Ten years ago, France adopted the law of April 13, 2016, aimed at strengthening the fight against the prostitution system and supporting people in prostitution. This abolitionist law ended the repression of victims, guarantees them pathways out of prostitution, and targets demand through the prohibition of purchasing sexual acts. It represents a major milestone for the respect of human rights and for equality between women and men.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this law, CAP International, in partnership with its member associations, Le Mouvement du Nid and the Fondation Scelles, is organising an international event from April 12 to 14, 2026, in Paris. Three days of feminist and abolitionist mobilisation await you: join us and take part in defending the rights of all women!

Global March of Survivors and Allies for the Abolition of Prostitution

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, a global march for the abolition of the prostitution system will bring together survivors and their allies in the streets of Paris, united by a shared demand for social justice, equality, and dignity. Far beyond celebrating the French abolitionist law, this international mobilisation will send a strong message: to reaffirm the abolition of the prostitution system worldwide and to express unwavering solidarity with all victims of its violence. More information will be shared soon on our social media channels.

The Fourth World Congress for the Abolition of Prostitution, organised by CAP International in Montreal, opened with a Global March of Survivors. Relive this powerful moment:

Conference at the National Assembly

On Monday, April 13, CAP International is organizing a conference at the National Assembly, under the high patronage of the Ministry for Equality between Women and Men. Registration is required.

This conference will bring together the French and Swedish Ministers for Equality, the key individuals and actors who contributed to the adoption and implementation of the law, as well as parliamentarians, representatives of feminist and grassroots organisations, members of the justice system, survivors and international partners, and researchers, in order to review the past ten years and discuss future abolitionist perspectives.

International Conference and Workshops

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, La Cité Audacieuse will host the event “EXIT,” dedicated to pathways out of prostitution and the fight against the prostitution system.

Four CAP International member associations, active in Nepal, India, Lebanon, and Mongolia, will share their expertise and field experiences. They will highlight: the impact of the prostitution system in their countries, the most targeted and vulnerable populations, best practices for building sustainable alternatives, and comprehensive support for leaving prostitution.
