Changing the Narrative: CAP International’s Raising Awareness Activities
CAP International is dedicated to driving a global cultural shift. As narratives increasingly portray prostitution as ‘sex work’ and a form of empowerment, it is vital to dispel these myths and confront the reality: prostitution is violence. Our mission is to raise awareness, amplify survivors' voices, and challenge societal perceptions by exposing the harsh truths behind the system, the intersecting oppressions it perpetuates, and the role of male buyers as perpetrators of violence.
Demonstrations and Events
From our inception, CAP International and its members have actively participated in major feminist demonstrations and events worldwide, such as International Women's Rights Day (8 March) and International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November). Our message that equality between women and men cannot be achieved while the most marginalised women and girls are commodified and men are allowed to purchase them.
Our presence at these events aims to raise awareness on prostitution as a continuum of violence against women and to call for the abolition of this sexist, racist and class-based system.

Online Awareness Campaigns
To shift public opinion and increase awareness, CAP International actively engages on social media platforms, providing educational and advocacy content on the realities of prostitution.
In partnership with our 37 member organisations across 29 countries, we develop multi-language awareness campaigns to expose the myths around the prostitution system, to analyse the intersectional oppressions at work in this system and to raise awareness on the abolitionist model.
