Malta: CAP presents at international conference on modern slavery

On 13-14 June, CAP International and its members Women@thewell (UK), Comision Unidos vs Trata (Mexico) and Fondation Scelles (France) presented and participated in an international conference on « Sharing models and best practices to end modern slavery and restore dignity to its victims ».

Organised by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the conference kept a strong focus on the successful « Nordic Model ». It provided space to discuss criminalising the purchase of sex as a way to end trafficking, and an opportunity to engage with Maltese political actors, including the President of Malta, as well as exchange best practices on policies. Several CAP members presented their perspectives from the frontline:

The new abolitionist French law and its evaluation after one year of implementation: Gregoire Thery, CAP International

La nueva ley abolicionista francesa: una inspiración para Europa del Sur y para América Latina / The new abolitionist French law: an inspiration for southern Europe and Latin America: Marta Torres Herrero, Fondation Scelles

Shifting the burden, Lynda Dearlove, Women@thewell

Dignity and success: a long term care protocol for victims of human trafficking / Dignidad y éxito: El protocolo de reintegración a largo plazo para víctimas de trata, Rosi Orozco, Comisión Unidos vs Trata
